The First
Audiovisual Course
Of The Armenian Language
HAYEREN KHOSINK
The audiovisual course of the Armenian language, Hayeren Khosink,
prepared in collaboration by the UNIVERSITY OF VENICE and the
Association PADUS-ARAXES, is now available in the NTSC (North
America) version, while only a few examplaries are still available
in the German PAL and the French SECAM versions published earlier.
Never before has it been so accessible to leam Armenian in the
classroom or in the privacy of one's own home. This has been
the first course for a Near/Middle Eastem language to be available
on audiovisual cassette.
Hayeren Khosink is comprised of three videotapes, of 45 minutes
each, and an accompanying manual. It is especially intended for
false beginnars, i.e. those who have a scarce knowledge of the
language. It introduces a fast, entertaining and easy method
of leaming conversational Armenian for people of all ages. Designed
by specialists, this course is the outcome of several years of
research aimed at providing the most effective and complete approach
to learning conversational Armenian with almost no assistance
for an adult from an instructor, and lesser assistance for children.
The videos show scenes of real life situations, acted out by
native speakers, all taking place in the majestic surroundings
of Venice, Italy. Each scene is followed by a constructive grammar
lesson to facilitate comprehension. The course manual comes complete
with glossaries for the dialogues presented in each of the 35

and Italian). An easy to use Alphabet key intended for beginners
